my showreel of the passed schoolyear is online. i mixed evrything up, the battleblog, my internship and my exam. looking back i produced quite a lot in one year i think, hadn't felt so until i stuffed all the files into a single project and watched them again. you can see it either here or on my fancy website.

the red riding hood animation is nearly ready. i have rendered a preview and now i am looking for errors to be fixed, and work on the sound. i'll talk with some teachers about it and then upload it. beneath you find another short preview, that doesn't spoil the plot.
i am also busy with my website by now. i'll keep it simple and flashy.

'codename red' preview

so, here is another preview, what the atmosphere and style will be like. this is pretty much what it's going to be in the final version. actualy, i was done with this scene a little earlier already, but i don't want to spoil something of the story, it should be a little surprising.
by the way, i programmed flash to rewind the movie once it's played. sounds easy, but try it yourself and you'll see that there is NO such action as "playRewind();".

looking forward

working on red riding hood again. i am really satisfied with what's it's going to look like, especially the visual style and movement. i am going to render an excerpt tonight to show you what the movements looks like.
i am making progress fast by now, only timing is a little problematic, as my computer takes AGES to ram-preview even short scenes. when i am done with the scenes on their own i could better render them on multiple computers in the AKI, and edit the quicktimes together to a movie i guess.

finally final

this time i mean it. i dont't think i'll chnage anything else, as i just don't have time for it. busy with red riding hood again from now on.

ok, so on tuesday i had a chat with Jelliche about the animation. she thought it may be not "deep" enough, and then we came to the great idea, that i could illustrate what the boy thinks. like that he gets a lot more understandable and likeable. he should think about flying of course, as he looks to the sky all the time.
i know i am running out of time, but it's not that much to change, and the animation get's a lot better by this.

it's done. the render REALLY took about 27 hours. i thought my computer was just joking...
however, this is the final version of the "hans guck-in-die-luft" animtion. sound also made especially for it, by Jacob van de Water. unfortunately, the compression makes it look a bit strange.

you got to be kidding...

i don't know what went wrong. ok, i activated motion blur for some layers but 19 hours? c'mon!
i guess i have to stop the render and change some preferences. i fiddled around there to prevent that "image buffer" error that haunts me all the time.

hans improvement

i added some details to the hans animation. like the one beneath for example, which is gonna work as the background for the titles at the end. also added some motion blur here and there, and tried some other effects. a new, full render with new sound is coming up soon.
additionally i am working on red riding hood, but i don't want to spoil anything, there is going to be a surprise.

yearbook stuff

i just delivered my stuff for the yearbook.
it's excerpts of my exam-project and a photo of mine. we were supposed, to make averange webcam-photos. i would have liked to make another, a bit more special photo, but i did not have the time. this one's fine aswell i guess...

the horror

working on some creepy horror-effects for the animation mentioned in the last posts. they shall serve as a sort of title sequence or introduction later. making progress.

ok. i rendered it again with some more trees and depth of field and stuff, so it should have taken even longer than before, but it hasn't. i found out it was "shadow diffusion" in the light settings that made rendering so hard.
however, nearly the same but even nicer:

i just couldn't keep my hands off one of the best known fairytales in the world (probably). you should be able to guess from the little preview here what it's going to be.
rendering took about 2 hours - for 16 seconds of animation goddammit. probably because of lights, camera and stuff.

Hans Guck-In-Die-Luft (ver 1.1)

ok, the first render of the complete animation was done after only 8 hours and 49 minutes. i have already corrected some errors, but some details are still missing. new sound is in the making aswell. you're welcome to leave a comment about what you think of it.

rendering...

i am done with most of the animation and now rendering it in one piece for the first time. last time it took several hours, and now it's a lot longer so my computer will be busy all night i guess.
i'll probably have to fix some errors and stuff when it's done, and i will add some more details here and there, so i'll have to render some parts again afterwards. anyways, tomorow you can already see the render of tonight, a sort of preview though.
additionally, new sound will be added, but that is something for later aswell.

i've been making great steps this week, working on the animation i am busy with since a while. i think it'll be finished by the end of this week. just a little more patience.

going on like before. atm i am busy with building his little hometown. it's not that far done, that i would already want to show you, so here's something else i did yesterday.
